CyberKnife is a precise, painless and non-invasive radiation treatment for cancer and neurosurgical treatments such as for trigeminal neuralgia.
A small linear accelerator (linac) is mounted on a robotic arm which manoeuvres with exceptional agility around the patient and a scanner tracks the tumour through small body movements.
The position of the tumour is recalculated between each of many precisely tuned doses of radiation, which are delivered from many different angles and positions, focussing tightly on the lesion to be treated.
CyberKnife can treat complex tumours wrapped around sensitive structures such as nerves or blood vessels, where surgeons cannot operate.
A brain tumour is treated at the European CyberKnife Centre in Munich
In most cases the treatment is painless so there is no need for anaesthesia. There is no incision so there is no open wound at risk of infection. After treatment there is no recovery time so you simply resume normal activities. For a quick guide to treatments offered, please visit the CyberKnife treatments page.
MHL helps patients to obtain CyberKnife treatment
We are not doctors and we do not examine or diagnose patients, but we have several years experience in handling enquiries for CyberKnife radiosurgery.
Many centres do not respond to enquiries from patients but MHL enables you to have your case reviewed at a choice of centres. You can see brief details of these on the CyberKnife centres page.
Where do I get more information?
Please visit our web site MHL CyberKnife Service (www.cyberknifeservice.com). This will give you a better understanding of the conditions that can be treated, how cases are assessed and the MHL enquiry service.
Important note to all patients
Medilux Healthcare Ltd. may discuss with patients and their doctors in general terms their potential suitability of CyberKnife or other treatment for a stated condition but we do not examine or diagnose patients or conduct tests or analysis, nor are we authorised to commit any CyberKnife centre to any specific outcome or precise costing or timing of treatment or to enter into any formal or informal agreement on their behalf.
Patients enter into a contract with each CyberKnife centre directly and we will not be liable in any way for the success, failure or other outcome of any treatment or failure to treat or for the accuracy of diagnosis given.
